Cross Media Europe

The project

Cross Media Europe was an Erasmus+ KA122 adult-education mobility in Strasbourg from 9 to 14 March 2025. Organised by Associazione Culturale Europolitiche, it brought together 20 adult learners from four Italian regions for a study visit connecting institutions, democratic participation, media literacy, and European public debate.

Inside European institutions and media

The programme moved between the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, ARTE, the European Youth Centre Strasbourg, and meetings with local civil-society organisations. At the Parliament, we observed plenary work and discussed current European priorities with elected representatives. At the Council of Europe, the focus shifted to human rights, democratic safeguards, trafficking, legislation, and digital press freedom.

Workshops on fake news, social media, public opinion, and disinformation connected institutional visits with the practical question of how people interpret and share information. The visit to ARTE offered another perspective: how a multilingual European newsroom builds stories across borders and communicates with different audiences.

What I developed

The experience strengthened my ability to evaluate sources, read political communication critically, and connect European decision-making with the way it is explained to the public. It also gave me a more concrete understanding of how institutions, journalists, and civil-society organisations contribute to democratic participation.
