Storytelling — Discovering the Inner Superhero
A youth-worker exchange in the Italian Alps using storytelling to support identity, self-confidence, and healthier social relationships.
The project
This Erasmus+ mobility for youth workers took place in Candriai, in the mountains near Trento, from 5 to 11 June 2024. It brought together 24 experienced youth workers from across Europe to compare methods and tools for innovative storytelling. The official project number was 2023-1-IT03-KA151-YOU-000135706.
What I developed
The programme connected narrative techniques with young people’s identity, self-confidence, and social relationships. Its central working days combined the Human Library, active listening, positive communication, and hands-on exchanges of good practice. Participants shared educational storytelling methods as complete learning cycles—from preparation and facilitation to evaluation—so that the tools could be understood, tested, and adapted rather than simply described.
The mountain setting supported both indoor and outdoor learning, while the programme’s co-created structure left room for participants to contribute their own approaches. The final evaluation and networking sessions turned the exchange into a starting point for future collaboration.
The result was a set of adaptable non-formal learning approaches for future youth activities and international groups, together with new connections among practitioners from across Europe.
